BHS: Improving School Spirit

We discussed ways to improve the school spirit at Byrnes yesterday. Now I would like for you to think more about this and write about what we, as a school community can do to work towards an even greater environment of Rebel Pride. Think about what individual classes (seniors, juniors, and sophomores), as well as teachers, administration, school district personnel, and you as an individual Byrnes Rebel might do to generate more enthusiasm for the entire school community.

  1. To me I think we can do more things like the other schools; like for example every school I know takes an old junk car and spray paints it and puts the other schools or teams name on it and like smash it. I know we don't have a lot of money, but we are not a poor school. I also think that if the teachers do things like play basketball against each other it will want to get more people into coming. As for the spirit stick its no surprise that the seniors always get it; I understand its their last year, but I think we all deserve a fair chance; and actually involve people in pep rally's, then they will want to come and do the fun things and dance and just be silly.

  2. I think we should do more fun things, instead of Byrnes feeling like a prison. The administration is way to strict on things we can and can not do. The things like Dorman did with the old junk car would be so much fun, but Byrnes is so scared that somebody at this school might have fun that we are not allowed to do much. Also, the pep rallies might be more fun if more people could be involved than just football players and the "popular" kids whose names are well known. The teachers should get involved, and better music should be played. Maybe then everybody would not leave before the pep rallies.

  3. I think that the teachers should get more involved, mostly at the pep-rallies. Maybe, if there was something to look forward too, people would actually come to them. I don't like how at the pep-rallies, the seniors always happen to get the spirit stick. That's definitely not fair to the underclassmen.

  4. Well, the classed of 2010 and 2011 really screwed everything up for everyone here at Byrnes. They did so much crap, it basically took away any senior privileges that we had. The only things we get are the senior parking lot, and we get to leave like...two minutes before everyone else.

I think the way to improve school spirit is to do more things for the students. Like more activities where we get to run around and be silly and bond with the people in our classes. Less serious, daunting deadlines hanging over our heads. A few new teachers to replace the depressing ones. And maybe even a few more privileges for the seniors, like a free breakfast with your class every month or something.

I don't know. I'm just glad to be graduating.

  5. well first more people need to be ask what is there idea for school spirit they don't need to ask a senior because all there worried about is graduating and focus on there grades for collage and you should ask the lower classes this so if the do improve the school spirit they will be able to see what there changes did and they would be able to experience them.
